What materials can EDM machine?

Any electrically conductive material — steels (including hardened), stainless, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, Inconel, carbide, Hastelloy, and more. Plastics, ceramics, and glass cannot be EDMed.

When should I choose EDM instead of CNC milling?

Choose EDM for hardened materials after heat treatment, sharp internal corners, deep narrow cavities, thin walls that deflect under cutting forces, micro holes, and features where conventional tools cannot reach.

What tolerances and surface finishes can you achieve?

Slow wire EDM typically holds ±0.002–0.005 mm with Ra 0.1–0.40 µm. Sinker EDM commonly achieves ±0.003–0.005 mm and Ra 0.1–0.4 µm on finish passes. We match process grade (fast/medium/slow wire) to your cost and precision targets.

Are there limitations I should plan for?

EDM only works on conductive materials and is slower than milling on soft stock. Thick sections (>200 mm) reduce efficiency and may increase wire-breakage risk. A thin recast layer (about 0.001–0.005 mm) may need post-processing for critical fatigue or sealing surfaces.

Do you provide electrodes and DFM for sinker EDM?

Yes — we design and machine electrodes as needed, and review cavity geometry, draft, and finish strategy before burning starts so you avoid mid-process redesigns.
